David M Robinson Canary Wharf – luxury jewellery and watch showroom in Jubilee Place.
Lighting a luxury jewellery environment with restraint
In luxury jewellery retail, more light does not necessarily mean better light. At David M Robinson’s Canary Wharf showroom, the objective was to create a sophisticated, relaxed and welcoming environment while ensuring that fine jewellery and luxury watches remained the visual focus.
The lighting therefore had to perform two roles at once: provide the precision, colour quality and controlled intensity required to present jewellery beautifully, while allowing the wider showroom to retain the softer character of a high-end hospitality interior.
DMR describes its Canary Wharf showroom as combining opulence with a relaxed, modern aesthetic. The showroom brings together DMR jewellery with luxury Swiss watch brands including Rolex, Patek Philippe and TUDOR, making careful control of light, contrast and atmosphere especially important.

“Luxury doesn’t need to shout. Neither should the lighting.”
A calm, high-end interior where focused jewellery lighting sits within a softer ambient environment.
The lighting should disappear
At Parify, we believe successful jewellery lighting should not draw attention to the luminaire. The customer should notice the jewellery, the materials, the architecture and the atmosphere – not the equipment creating the light. That philosophy is visible throughout Canary Wharf. The ceiling fittings are intentionally discreet. Focused illumination gives the jewellery clarity and prominence, while the surrounding space remains calm and visually comfortable. The result is a showroom that feels luxurious without feeling over-lit.

Consultation areas combine hospitality-led interior design with bright, precisely illuminated jewellery displays.
The luminaires recede. The jewellery, materials and experience come forward.
Precision where it matters
Throughout the interior, Parify Reflect and Prail recessed luminaires provide controlled, directional illumination. Their role is deliberately discreet: light can be placed where it contributes to the customer experience, illuminating jewellery and display areas while allowing the architecture to retain its softer character.
Reflect offers precise aiming and a discreet recessed appearance, while the Prail family provides a range of recessed options for tailoring output to different areas of a showroom. Both support the principle that the fitting should remain secondary to the effect it creates.
Window lighting in Canary Wharf
The shopfront has a different job from the interior. In the bright, highly glazed environment of Jubilee Place, window displays need enough controlled intensity to hold attention and give jewellery visual presence beyond the glass.
Parify Matrix F151 luminaires were used in the window displays. The slimline Matrix family was developed for discreet installation, using high-colour-rendering light and optical control to direct illumination where it is needed. For the F151, Parify specifies a 30W linear format with multiple beam-angle options – well suited to creating focused window-display illumination without making the luminaire itself the feature.
Keep the environment relaxed. Keep the jewellery exceptional.
From daylight to evening
A luxury jewellery showroom has to work throughout the day. Canary Wharf adds the challenge of substantial surrounding ambient light, reflections and changing daylight. As evening arrives, that balance changes completely. The controlled scheme allows the architecture to become warmer and more intimate while the jewellery remains crisp and visually compelling. The atmosphere changes; the merchandise does not lose its presence.
A retail environment designed around the customer
DMR’s own description of the Canary Wharf experience emphasises time, attention and a relaxed modern aesthetic. That customer journey is supported by the lighting: consultation areas feel comfortable enough to spend time in, architectural finishes retain their texture and warmth, and display lighting gives jewellery and watches the visual priority they require. This is the difference between simply illuminating a shop and designing light for luxury retail. Each layer has a purpose, and each area is allowed to feel appropriate to its function.
